 July 3  – Crystal River Rock Painting Kites and Pinwheels

10 am- 1:00 pm

Drop by for some seasonal and holiday creativity. You choose . . . one of each kind: kite, pin wheel, and Crystal River rocks (more than one is okay!) to decorate and embellish. We provide the instruction for painting and sealing, as well as all of the materials. For all ages.

July 10 - Explore & Create Herbal Products

10 am - 1 pm

Learn from a local herbalist about our local herbs and their properties, and how you can incorporate them into your home herbal needs. Together create an arnica salve for pain relief, bath balms for uplifting your spirits, and a rose lip balm for those overexposed lips. Ages 12 and up.

 July 17 -  Shibori Silk scarf dying, 10 -1:00

Fun in the mountain sun! And in the snow too. You will learn about the ancient art of Shibori dying. We will demonstrate many techniques for achieving beautiful patterns with dye. We will supply you with two silk scarves and all of the dying materials needed. Additional scarves will be available for purchase and dying. Ages 10 and up.

                  July 24  - Quilling, 10-12:00

Paper quilling, also called paper filigree, is a papercraft that has been popular since the 15th century. This art has experienced a resurgence in popularity over the last few years. In this class you will learn the technique and create your own flower card. It‘s incredible how you can make complicated shapes and patterns from simple paper strips and glue! Ages 12 and up.

July 31 -  Sheet wax Candles, 10 -12:00

Learn about how bees make wax, and see how 100% beeswax sheets get rolled into candles. Everyone will then be able to roll and cut to make a candle that will have a design on the outside. Fun for all ages.

                  Aug 7  –  Tree of Life, 10-1:00

Learn about the symbolism of the Tree of Life, as it continues through the ages. You will hear and see how the technique and style varies in different cultures. Using wire and semi-precious stone chips, you too will learn the technique and create a pendant which will then be placed on a leather cord. You choose the stone chips. Ages 12 and up.

Aug 14 - Coptic Stitch Journal & Handset Type Postcards, 10-1:00

Print and bind with moxie. In this class, you will learn about binding and create a Coptic stitch journal and handset type for a letterpress. Vintage album covers will be repurposed for the journals. We will print enough postcards so that everyone gets a set. No experience necessary. Ages 16 and up.

Aug 21 - Leather and Bead Wrap-around Bracelets, 10-1:00

Have fun with beads and leather learning the techniques for making these popular bracelets which wrap around the wrist two or tree times. Using semi-precious and/or crystals, leather and buttons. You will love your finished creations. Ages 12 and up.

Aug 28 - Silk Scarf Dying with Ice, 10-1:00

What better way to stay cool in the summer, and have fun dying with ice. (This can also be done with snow, too; come back in the winter for that workshop!) Using dye and other fun materials, create beautiful organic designs on your silk scarves. Two scarves are included in the class, and additional scarves are available for purchase. Ages 12 and up.
